Full production rebuild for Hamilton's hometown foodservice distributor after a family-to-family handover. Carries Armstrong, Venetian Meats, E.D. Smith, and other regional brands. Currently building the phase 2 vendor and SKU listing layer.
What we did, how we did it, and what changed.
A family-owned Hamilton foodservice distributor under new ownership needed a website that would honor its long-time accounts while introducing the brand to new ones. The old site leaned on generic distributor imagery. Long-time customers were watching to see whether the transition felt like continuity or a takeover.
Real photography over stock — shot on the client's own warehouse floor, delivery truck in the alley, team at the order counter. Vendor names put on the record on the product page (Armstrong, Venetian Meats, E.D. Smith, Big Red, Nador, Lynch Foods) so accounts-payable clerks could confirm carriage without a phone call. A client-tracked open TODO document sat next to the repo, and every unconfirmed fact rendered as a visible placeholder rather than an assertion until the owner said otherwise.
Public site live at mwfoods.ca on real client photography. Content sourced from a client-tracked list; every open question closed one by one. Phase 2 is currently in build: vendor listing and SKU-level catalog tables that will let long-time accounts self-serve product confirmation. Alyssa Outerson's testimonial arrived over email during the review pass.
